SENTRY Commences Funding for Five New Research Projects
Following the 2023 Call for Proposals, SENTRY welcomes five new research projects in support of our work to better secure soft targets and crowded places (STCPs). We received many compelling proposals from U.S. Colleges and Universities and were able to select five projects offering potential solutions to address the critical challenges of protecting STCPs. Led by academic subject matter experts, each new project proposes impactful research and demonstrates a pragmatic approach and methodology.
SENTRY Director Michael Silevitch expresses confidence in the potential impact of these projects, stating, “Each carefully selected project reflects a practical, results-driven approach, innovative techniques, and specific relevance to our mission. We’re eager to collaborate with these investigators to propel our research forward.”
SENTRY’s research structure ties the technical challenges of protecting STCPs to four fundamental research areas, which all contribute to the development of our vision of the Virtual Sentry Framework (VSF). The VSF aims to provide real-time decision support systems enabling actionable situational awareness leading to more effective threat assessment, preparedness, mitigation, and response.
